You would be surprised at how many websites run the standard compatibility settings, that includes Opencart.

I just made a single line code change to the admin config, switching from mysql to mysqli (improved) db drive and I noticed an immediate improvement on how quickly the admin pages loaded.

I also found 1/2 second improvement on page delivery speed on the front end.
